Jungle Payments

Jungle Payments - Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you guys?
Jungle Payments is operated by Jungle Tools LLC, the developers of the Jungle Disk software for the Amazon S3 service. Over the past year we've helped Amazon beta test the Amazon Payments service for use with our Jungle Disk software. We liked it so much, we decided to create a site to help other people use Amazon Payments as well.

Why do I need to use JunglePayments.com to accept Amazon Payments?
Amazon Payments is different from other payment services like PayPal in that it is only offered as a "web service" - you need to be a programmer to use it. If you speak SOAP and WSDL fluently you may not need Jungle Payments. Amazon provides an SDK that approved developers can use to interact directly with Amazon Payments.
However non-programmer types will need to use a 3rd party site like Jungle Payments to accept payments with Amazon Payments.

How am I and my customers protected when using Jungle Payments?
With the Amazon Payments service, your customers' billing information as well as your own account information never leave the Amazon servers. Jungle Payments processes all payments using anonymous "tokens" that we obtain with customer authorization from Amazon.
Only individual payments directly authorized by your customers can be made, and the payments are only authorized for transfer to your account - we can't "intercept" the funds or redirect them in any way.

How is the Jungle Payments service free? Where do you make money?
We're able to offer the Jungle Payments service for free because Amazon Payments does all the hard work - they handle all the payment and transaction processing. Jungle Payments simply provides an easy to use web interface for the system. Our overhead is low and our costs are covered by sales of the Jungle Disk software.
In the future we may offer "premium" payment services via Jungle Payments such as private-label and custom reporting options.

Do you support payments from bank accounts?
Not currently. Although Amazon Payments allows payments from US bank accounts, direct bank account payments take several days to process. However, Jungle Payments does accept payments via Amazon Payments balances. If your customers want to pay you with a bank account, they can set up an Amazon Payments account, link their bank account, and transfer money into their Amazon Payments balance.

Where can I learn more about Amazon Payments?
You can find out more on the Amazon Payments site, or in the Amazon Payments FAQ.
